The people can win justice only by standing together to fight.
Our work against gentrification in Philly is a big part of what we do. Along with our friends in the Norris Square Community Action Network, we organized a campaign against a massive, luxury apartment complex planned on a small residential street called Onion Flats. When another large, gentrifying development was flooding resident-owned small businesses with sewage water, our volunteers shut down their construction site and forced them to pay for the damages they caused.
The Liberation Center’s Philly Against Police Brutality organizing project was responsible for leading some of the largest protests in the city during the nationwide uprising against racist police violence. Our proudest accomplishment to date is organizing the 100,000-strong march on June 6, one of the largest demonstrations in Philadelphia’s history.
