About Terra Oliveira
Terra Oliveira is a community organizer with the Philadelphia Liberation Center and the founder and editor of Recenter Press. Through their work with the Liberation Center, they help organize study groups, serve-the-people programs, and direct action in West Philadelphia and the city as a whole. Recenter Press is a small publishing project which releases poetry books and a bi-annual poetry journal centered around themes of labor, recovery, theology, and liberation. In the past, they’ve worked as a youth program facilitator at summer camps and at the Free Library, and also as an agricultural worker, Instacart worker, dog walker, nanny, documentary filmmaker, and deli worker. Central to their life is service, meditation, and participating in the movement for socialism.
The 10-year tax abatement is robbing the people of Philadelphia of much-needed resources to enrich the already wealthy. Together, we can defeat predatory developers and the capitalist system that enables them.
